CANNIBAL CORPSE - The Bleeding - CD - Metal Blade Records - 1994
Okay, so The Bleeding isn't really a groundbreaking
album as far as death metal is concerned, but it is one of Cannibal Corpse's
greatest collections. They're one of the most gruesome bands out there
(just look at the album cover for Butchered at Birth), and every
song they write is a reflection of that.
The Bleeding has some great ones on it: "Stripped,
Raped, and Strangled" and "Force-Fed Broken Glass" are a couple of the
best. Great guitar chords and double-bass make this CD a great listen,
and the vocals are another bonus. The growling and screeching can be deciphered
without liner notes, but they're included anyway, just for the sake of
savoring every detail. "You thought it was over, It's not over, I came
back, I brought my axe." Good stuff. - Matt
